Hamirpur:
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today conducted an extensive visit to the disaster-affected areas of the Sujanpur constituency in Hamirpur district on Sunday, personally reviewing the ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts and interacting with the displaced families.
The Chief Minister visited Khairi and surrounding villages to assess damage caused by recent floods and landslides. He also inspected the land subsidence-hit zone of Chabutra, where several families have been rendered homeless.
In a major announcement, CM Sukhu declared that each displaced family in Chabutra will receive a comprehensive relief package of Rs. 8.70 lakh. This includes Rs. 7 lakh from the state government for house reconstruction and Rs. 70,000 for the purchase of essential household items. Additionally, local MLA Captain Ranjit Singh has committed an extra Rs. 1 lakh per family from his own resources, providing a significant boost to the support measures.
“The state government stands firmly with every affected family. We are committed to helping them rebuild their lives,” said CM Sukhu while addressing the displaced residents. He assured them that all possible support would be extended, and emphasized that similar surveys and relief efforts are underway in other affected parts of Hamirpur district.

He further added that the state government will raise the issue of transferring safe forest land for the rehabilitation of displaced families with the Central Government. “We are also preparing to seek a comprehensive relief package from the Centre to compensate for the heavy losses Himachal Pradesh has suffered during this monsoon,” he stated.
Following the field visit, the Chief Minister also held a public grievance redressal session at Kutheda to hear and address the concerns of local residents.
Several senior leaders and officials accompanied the Chief Minister during his visit, including MLA Suresh Kumar, Chairman of Kangra Central Cooperative Bank Ram Chandra Pathania, State Nasha Nivaran Board Coordinator Naresh Thakur, senior Congress leaders Dr. Pushpender Verma and Suman Bharti, Deputy Commissioner Amarjeet Singh, and SP Bhagat Singh Thakur.
The visit underscores the state government’s continued focus on rapid disaster response, relief, and long-term rehabilitation for affected communities across Himachal Pradesh.
