DAV CPS Mandi Holds Parent Orientation Programme to Promote Academic Excellence and Holistic Development.
Shimla:
In a significant initiative aimed at strengthening the partnership between parents and educators, DAV Centenary Public School, Mandi, organized a comprehensive Parent Orientation Programme at the school’s main campus. The event focused on empowering parents with practical knowledge and strategies to support their children’s academic success, emotional well-being, and overall personality development.
The programme witnessed the presence of Principal K. S. Guleria, eminent motivational speaker and career counsellor Dr. Pramod Pathak, the school’s Special Counsellor Gaurav Oberoi, along with a large gathering of parents and faculty members.
Delivering the keynote address on the theme “Carving the Path of Divine Souls Towards Academic Excellence,” Dr. Pramod Pathak underlined the indispensable role of parents in shaping the future of their children. He stated that academic excellence cannot be measured solely by examination results but must be supported by strong moral values, discipline, emotional stability, and a positive home environment.
Dr. Pathak encouraged parents to adopt effective parenting practices that recognize the unique abilities and potential of every child. He stressed the importance of nurturing self-confidence, resilience, and emotional intelligence, enabling children to face academic and life challenges with determination. Through practical examples and interactive discussions, he inspired parents to become active partners in their children’s educational journey.
Adding another important dimension to the programme, Special Counsellor Gaurav Oberoi conducted an informative session on children’s brain development and the impact of modern digital habits on their cognitive growth. He explained how excessive consumption of short-form digital content, particularly mobile reels, can adversely affect children’s attention span, concentration, and mental stability.
Oberoi advised parents to encourage healthier alternatives such as reading books, listening to stories, watching long-form educational videos, and engaging children in meaningful learning activities that promote deeper thinking and sustained focus. He also shared several practical techniques to improve concentration, emotional balance, and overall brain development among students.
One of the highlights of the programme was an interactive question-and-answer session, during which parents openly discussed their concerns regarding academics, behavioural issues, emotional well-being, and career guidance. Both Dr. Pathak and Oberoi responded to the queries with practical solutions and expert advice, leaving parents reassured and better equipped to support their children.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal K. S. Guleria expressed his sincere gratitude to the distinguished resource persons for sharing their valuable expertise. He reaffirmed the school’s unwavering commitment to providing an environment where students not only excel academically but also develop into responsible, compassionate, and socially conscious citizens.
The programme concluded on an inspiring note, with parents appreciating the school’s efforts to involve families as active stakeholders in the educational process. The session provided valuable insights and renewed motivation for parents to contribute meaningfully to their children’s holistic growth and academic success.
The formal vote of thanks was delivered by Sangeeta, while the programme was efficiently compered by teachers Shaili and Sunil Kumar. During the event, parents were also introduced to the various initiatives undertaken by the DAV institution to ensure the all-round development and bright future of its students.
