BJP State Executive Member Rajat Thakur Questions Pace of Development in Dharmpur Mandi.

Shimla:

BJP State Executive Committee member Rajat Thakur has questioned the pace of development in the Dharmpur Assembly constituency of Mandi district, alleging that several public infrastructure and welfare issues remain unresolved despite claims of ongoing development works. He made the remarks through a press statement.

Thakur said that those claiming significant development in Dharmpur should clarify where major projects are visible on the ground. Referring to statements that development works worth around Rs. 100 crore are underway, he alleged that residents are yet to witness corresponding progress in many parts of the constituency.

According to Thakur, the primary visible work is related to road cutting and construction of retaining walls on the Dharmpur–Bahri stretch. He also raised concerns over issues linked to road construction activities and called for greater transparency in development-related projects.

He further stated that if development had progressed as claimed, residents of the Sandhol area would not have continued their ongoing protest over local demands. Thakur also referred to the Madhi Hospital project, claiming that although the building is largely complete, it is still awaiting an electricity connection, preventing the facility from becoming operational for public use.

Highlighting disaster-related concerns, Thakur alleged that debris deposited along roads during the 2023 disaster has not yet been cleared. He also claimed that families displaced in Sayathi following last year’s incident are still awaiting permanent rehabilitation, and urged the authorities to address the matter at the earliest.

In his statement, Thakur also expressed concern over the condition of roads and healthcare facilities in the constituency. He alleged that several hospitals are facing shortages of doctors, paramedical staff and support personnel, affecting healthcare services.

The allegations reflect the opposition leader’s assessment of the current development situation in Dharmpur. There has been no immediate response from MLA Chander Shekhar or the state government regarding the claims made in the statement.
