259 Assistant Staff Nurses Recruited for Government Medical Colleges and AIMSS Chamiyana to Strengthen Healthcare Services in Himachal.

In a major initiative aimed at strengthening healthcare services across Himachal Pradesh, the state government has issued appointment letters to 259 Assistant Staff Nurses for deployment in various Government Medical Colleges, hospitals and the Atal Institute of Medical Super Specialities (AIMSS), Chamiyana, Shimla.
The appointments have been made on the recommendations of the Himachal Pradesh Rajya Chayan Aayog, Hamirpur. The newly recruited Assistant Staff Nurses will be posted at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla; Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College, Tanda; Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar Medical College, Nahan; Dr. Radhakrishnan Government Medical College, Hamirpur; Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Medical College, Nerchowk; Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru Government Medical College, Chamba; and AIMSS, Chamiyana.
The recruitment is expected to significantly augment the existing healthcare workforce, improve patient care and strengthen the functioning of tertiary healthcare institutions across the state. The induction of trained nursing personnel is also expected to help meet the growing demand for quality healthcare services while ensuring better treatment and care for patients.
This marks another major recruitment drive by the state government in the health sector. Earlier in June 2026, the government had appointed 372 Assistant Staff Nurses in various Government Medical Colleges across Himachal Pradesh to address staff shortages and improve healthcare delivery.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said the state government remains committed to providing accessible, affordable and quality healthcare services to every citizen. He said that strengthening the healthcare system continues to be one of the government’s highest priorities and that sustained efforts are being made to equip medical institutions with adequate infrastructure and skilled human resources.
