Abhilashi University Organizes Anti-Drug Awareness Programme, Calls Upon Youth to Lead Drug-Free India Mission.

Abhilashi University organized a comprehensive Anti-Drug Awareness Programme to educate students about the harmful effects of substance abuse and strengthen the nationwide Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. The event brought together students, faculty members, and administrators in a collective pledge to promote a healthy, responsible, and drug-free society.
Superintendent of Police, Mandi, Vinod Kumar, attended the programme as the Chief Guest and was welcomed by the University’s Pro-Chancellor, Dr. Lalit Kumar Abhilashi. The programme was attended by Deans, Directors, Heads of Departments, faculty members, staff, and a large number of students.
Welcoming the gathering, Vice-Chancellor Prof. H. K. Chaudhary described drug abuse as one of the gravest social challenges facing the country, particularly its youth. Drawing on his international academic experiences, he observed that the devastating consequences of addiction, once witnessed mainly abroad, have now become a growing concern in India. He urged students to remain drug-free and serve as ambassadors of awareness within their communities.
Delivering the keynote address, SP Vinod Kumar highlighted the social, legal, and health consequences of substance abuse. He emphasized that combating drug abuse requires collective responsibility and encouraged students to reject drugs, motivate their peers to do the same, and contribute towards making Himachal Pradesh a drug-free state. He also underscored the pivotal role of educational institutions in preventing addiction among young people.
In his message, Chancellor Dr. R. K. Abhilashi reaffirmed the University’s commitment to nurturing not only academic excellence but also moral values and social responsibility. Pro-Chancellor Dr. Lalit Kumar Abhilashi emphasized that the nation’s youth possess immense potential and should channel their energy into education, innovation, research, sports, and nation-building.
The programme featured a powerful street play by students of the Faculty of Health Sciences depicting the physical, psychological, and social consequences of drug addiction. Anusha, a BAMS student, delivered an informative lecture on the importance of a healthy lifestyle and the role of youth in building a progressive society. The University’s Red Ribbon Club also organized a poster exhibition promoting drug prevention and rehabilitation.
Outstanding participants in the street play, lecture, and poster competitions were honoured with certificates by the Chief Guest. In a joint message, the University leadership urged students to adopt a disciplined, healthy, and drug-free lifestyle while contributing positively to society.
