The Alumni Association of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Pandoh in Mandi district has announced a contribution of Rs. 3 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund in support of rehabilitation efforts for those affected by the recent cloudburst disaster in the Seraj and Dharampur regions of Mandi district.

The Association’s President, Sandeep Sharma, an Indian Forest Service officer currently serving as the Conservator of Forests in Kullu district, stated that this calamity is deeply unfortunate, and the Association stands in solidarity with the affected families of their home district. While individual members are already delivering essential supplies to the disaster-hit areas, the Association has collectively decided to contribute Rs. 3 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

The Association’s General Secretary, Dr. Sachin Thakur, an academician and currently serving as an Assistant Professor of Physics in the Higher Education Department, mentioned that the JNV Pandoh Alumni Association has been recognized by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti as one of the strongest alumni organizations in the country. The Association primarily supports economically disadvantaged students in pursuing higher education by covering their tuition, hostel, and food expenses. To date, the Association has provided assistance exceeding Rs. 30 lakh to over 20 students.

In addition, in cases of the untimely demise of an alumnus or property loss due to natural disasters, the Association extends an immediate financial aid of Rs. 1 lakh to the affected families. Dr. Thakur also affirmed that if needed, the Association is prepared to release a second installment of relief funds to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all members for their support and contributions.

Flying Officer Dr. Chaman, Media Advisor of the Alumni Association and presently the Head of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at Vallabh Government College, Mandi, informed that a delegation of the Alumni Association will visit the Chief Minister’s residence this week to officially hand over the cheque of approximately Rs. 3 lakh.

Present on the occasion were the Association’s Finance Secretary Vir Singh, Senior Vice President Dr. Abhilasha Rao, Harsh Sharma, Latesh Palta, Legal Advisor Ram Gulam, Joint Secretaries Lokesh Bhatia and Monika Bhargava, Women Cell Chairperson Vanita Sharma, Vice Presidents Sarika Sood, Indu Dhiman, and several other members.
