DAV Centenary Public School, Mandi, celebrated the 80th Independence Day with great patriotic fervour, enthusiasm and a strong spirit of national pride at the Main School Building on Saturday.

The prestigious occasion was graced by K. S. Guleria, Principal, DAV Centenary Public School and ARO, HP Zone-C, Mandi, as the Chief Guest, while Vandna Guleria attended as the Guest of Honour. The school fraternity expressed its heartfelt gratitude to the distinguished guests for their gracious presence, encouragement and support, which added significance and warmth to the celebrations.

The programme commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag, followed by the singing of the National Anthem. The ceremony set a solemn and deeply patriotic tone, with students and members of the school fraternity paying tribute to the freedom fighters and remembering the sacrifices made in the struggle for India’s independence.

The cultural programme that followed reflected the country’s rich heritage, diversity and national spirit. A soulful Group Song, an inspiring speech by the Head Boy and a patriotic poem highlighted the students’ love for the nation and their understanding of the values associated with Independence Day.

The major attraction of the celebrations was “Incredible India: A Cultural Ramp Walk,” which presented a colourful glimpse of India’s diverse traditions, regional costumes and cultural heritage. Students representing different parts of the country showcased the remarkable diversity of Indian culture while conveying the powerful message of “Unity in Diversity.”

The celebrations were further enriched by a documentary screening and an engaging theatrical presentation titled “Reflections on India’s Journey.” Through the play, students depicted different facets of India’s journey since independence, highlighting the country’s progress, achievements and the responsibilities of its citizens. An energetic Group Dance added further vibrancy to the programme and was enthusiastically received by the gathering.

Addressing the students and staff, Chief Guest K. S. Guleria appreciated the dedicated efforts of the school fraternity in organising the Independence Day celebrations. He encouraged the students to uphold the values of integrity, discipline, patriotism and service to the nation, emphasising the important role of the younger generation in shaping the future of the country.

Guest of Honour Vandna Guleria also lauded the well-organised programme and the enthusiastic participation of the students. She appreciated their confidence, creativity and patriotic spirit and encouraged them to continue cultivating the values of unity, responsibility, mutual respect and commitment towards the nation.

The celebration concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks, expressing sincere gratitude to the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, school authorities, teachers, staff members and students whose collective efforts contributed to the success of the event.

The Independence Day celebration at DAV Centenary Public School, Mandi, served as a fitting tribute to the spirit of freedom and the sacrifices of the nation’s heroes. It also reminded the students of their collective responsibility to contribute towards building a stronger, progressive, united and harmonious India.
