Former minister and senior BJP leader from Manali, Govind Singh Thakur, attended the closing ceremony of the Shauni Mela at Burua and highlighted the importance of preserving the region’s rich cultural traditions.

Addressing the gathering, Thakur said that the Shauni Mela is an integral part of the area’s cultural heritage. He said such traditional festivals not only keep local customs and traditions alive but also play an important role in connecting the younger generation with its cultural roots.

Thakur made a special appeal to the youth to stay away from drugs and other social evils. He urged young people to remain vigilant and encourage their friends and peers to avoid substance abuse, stressing the importance of collective awareness in building a healthy and responsible society.

He also congratulated and extended his best wishes to the organising committee, local residents and everyone who contributed to the successful conduct of the Shauni Mela.

Thakur said community participation is essential for preserving traditional festivals and ensuring that cultural heritage continues to be passed on to future generations.
