BJP Protest in Lahaul-Spiti Postponed, Silent March Held to Honour Army Jawan.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unit Lahaul and Spiti district postponed its organisational meeting and proposed protest against the policies of the Himachal Pradesh government following the sudden death of Army jawan Anil Kumar, a resident of Kukumseri in Lahaul-Spiti.

Instead of holding the planned protest in Lahaul, BJP leaders and workers organised a silent march to pay tribute to the deceased soldier. The march was led by BJP district president Rigzin Samphel  Heyerpa and included state convenors Purushottam Guleria and Chaman Kapoor, trade cell convenor Govind Thakur, district general secretary Sanjay Katoch, and other party workers.

Carrying BJP flags, the participants marched silently to Ras Bihari Chowk, where they observed a two-minute silence and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul. Slogans of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram” were also raised.

BJP leaders described Anil Kumar’s death as an irreparable loss to the region and society. They said the party considered it appropriate to suspend the protest and honour the soldier.

The leaders added that the BJP’s struggle against state government policies would continue. They also said workers would strengthen the organisation at the booth level ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.
