President Droupadi Murmu Highlights Role of Cooperatives at Shri Warana Women Cooperative Group’s Golden Jubilee.

In a significant event marking the golden jubilee of the Shri Warana Women Cooperative Group, President of India, Droupadi Murmu, addressed the gathering at Warananagar, Kolhapur, Maharashtra on September 2, 2024.
President Murmu emphasized that cooperation harnesses societal strengths and aligns with the principles of justice, unity, and fraternity outlined in the Constitution. She lauded the impact of cooperatives on India’s economic development, citing successful examples such as Amul and Lijjat Papad.
Acknowledging the crucial role of cooperatives in sectors like milk production, fertilizers, cotton, and sugar, the President highlighted their contribution to poverty alleviation, food security, and resource management. However, she also noted the need for these institutions to adapt to technological advancements and improve management practices to address challenges such as capital shortages and low participation.
Murmu urged cooperatives to explore new areas like organic farming and eco-tourism, and emphasized the importance of democratic governance and transparency. She stressed that the success of cooperatives relies on genuine cooperation and the avoidance of personal profit motives.
In closing, the President encouraged the predominantly female audience to prioritize education, embrace new technologies, and contribute to national development, affirming that collective efforts are key to elevating India’s global stature.
