New Delhi:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday extended greetings to all personnel of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) on the occasion of the force’s Raising Day, praising their exceptional courage, determination and selfless service to the nation.

The Prime Minister lauded the ITBP personnel, popularly known as Himveers, for their outstanding bravery and their ability to overcome challenges while performing their duties. He said their sacrifices and dedication continued to serve as a source of inspiration for the country.

In a message shared on social media platform X, the Prime Minister conveyed his greetings to all ITBP personnel and acknowledged their contribution to the nation’s security.

“On their Raising Day, greetings to all personnel of the ITBP. The ITBP Himveers have distinguished themselves through their exceptional valour. They have always risen to every challenge with remarkable determination. Their selfless service and sacrifices are a source of immense inspiration to the nation,” the Prime Minister said.

The ITBP is one of India’s Central Armed Police Forces and plays a vital role in safeguarding the country’s borders along the Himalayan region, particularly the India-China border. Its personnel operate in some of the world’s most challenging geographical and climatic conditions, including high-altitude mountainous terrain, extreme cold and areas with low oxygen levels.

The force is known for its specialised training in mountaineering, high-altitude operations and survival in extreme weather conditions. ITBP personnel also undertake search and rescue operations, disaster response, and other duties in support of civil authorities when required.

The Raising Day provides an opportunity to recognise the dedication, professionalism and sacrifices of ITBP personnel who serve in difficult and often isolated locations to protect the country’s territorial integrity.

The Prime Minister’s message highlighted the courage and commitment of the Himveers, whose service in demanding conditions remains an important contribution to India’s national security.
