Shimla:
Suraj Singh Thakur, who served as Panchayat Secretary at Gram Panchayat Shilhbudhani in Drang Development Block, retired from government service on Saturday after completing his tenure. To mark the occasion, a farewell and felicitation ceremony was organised at the Block Development Office in Padhar, where officers and employees accorded him a warm and respectful send-off.
Block Development Officer (BDO) Vinay Chaudhary, along with other officials and staff members, attended the event and appreciated Thakur’s contribution during his years of service.
Addressing the gathering, BDO Vinay Chaudhary lauded Suraj Singh Thakur for his dedication, sincerity and professional approach. He said that whenever any responsibility was assigned to him, he completed it with simplicity, ease and efficiency. Describing him as a soft-spoken, humble and sociable person, Chaudhary said that Thakur had discharged his official responsibilities with commitment and maintained cordial relations with colleagues.
He further observed that retirement was merely a milestone in government service and not the end of an active life. It would now provide Thakur with an opportunity to devote more time to his family, relatives and personal interests.
Chaudhary also encouraged him to remain connected with society after retirement and continue contributing to social activities through his experience and goodwill. He extended his best wishes for a healthy, peaceful and fulfilling retired life.
As a mark of respect and appreciation, BDO Vinay Chaudhary honoured Suraj Singh Thakur by presenting him with a traditional shawl and Himachali cap. The entire staff of the Block Development Office also presented him with a memento as a token of remembrance and appreciation for his services.
The officers and employees present on the occasion expressed their gratitude for his contributions and wished him good health, happiness and prosperity in the years ahead. The ceremony concluded with an emotional farewell, reflecting the respect and affection he had earned among his colleagues during his service.
