Ministry of Panchayati Raj and IIM Jammu Host Five-Day Management Development Programme for Panchayat Leaders.
New Delhi:
The Ministry of Panchayati Raj, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Management, Jammu (IIM Jammu), is set to conduct a pivotal five-day Management Development Programme (MDP) from 9th to 13th September 2024. This residential program aims to enhance the leadership and management skills of Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) officials.
Participants will include Presidents and Vice Presidents of District Panchayats and Block Panchayat Samitis, Heads of Gram Panchayats, and other Panchayat officials from 11 States and Union Territories. The MDP will cover crucial areas such as leadership, management, ethics, resource mobilization, rural innovation, project management, and the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
A primary goal of the program is to improve Own Source Revenue (OSR) generation, essential for the financial sustainability of Panchayats. By fostering financial independence, the MDP seeks to transform Panchayats into “Saksham” (capable) entities, thereby enhancing their ability to address local needs and drive rural development effectively.
This initiative is part of the Ministry’s broader effort to strengthen local governance and empower Panchayats, aligning with the vision of “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India). The program’s success will contribute significantly to improving local governance and public service delivery across rural areas.
