New Delhi:

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has partnered with Swiggy to launch the ‘Swiggy Skills’ initiative, aimed at enhancing skills and increasing employability within the logistics and food delivery sectors. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed today aligns with the Government’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, focusing on skilling and workforce development in alignment with the National Logistics Policy.

Minister of State (I/C) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Jayant Chaudhary, emphasized the initiative’s role in transforming the logistics sector, highlighting the significant scope for growth and the government’s commitment to creating a supportive ecosystem for this sector. “Public-private partnerships like this one can drive substantial progress and open new avenues for the workforce,” he noted.

The ‘Swiggy Skills’ initiative will integrate Swiggy’s platform with the Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH), providing access to online courses, certifications, and training for 2.4 lakh delivery partners and restaurant staff associated with Swiggy. The initiative aims to enhance employability and provide upskilling opportunities within Swiggy’s extensive network.

Secretary of MSDE, Atul Kumar Tiwari, outlined the transformative impact of this partnership, stating it would boost the economic contribution of the retail and logistics sectors while providing critical skilling opportunities. He noted that the initiative would help individuals gain access to skill loans, courses, and certifications, thus improving their career prospects.

Swiggy’s CEO, Rohit Kapoor, highlighted the integration with SIDH as a key element of the initiative, which will facilitate access to skill development resources for Swiggy’s vast network of partners. Kapoor also mentioned plans to recruit 3,000 individuals across the country for Swiggy Instamart operations and provide training and internships to 200 individuals trained by MSDE.

The collaboration reflects a shared vision to advance skills and employment opportunities, paving the way for future developments in the logistics and food delivery sectors.
