Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh Launches National Workshop on Socially Just and Secured Panchayats in Patna.

Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh inaugurated the National Workshop on “Socially Just and Socially Secured Panchayats” today at the Gyan Bhawan, Samrat Ashok Convention Centre in Patna. The three-day event, organized by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj in collaboration with the Bihar Panchayati Raj Department, runs from September 10 to 12, 2024.
In his opening remarks, Singh underscored the pivotal role of Panchayats in achieving the vision of a “Viksit Bharat” by 2047, emphasizing their foundational significance in strengthening democracy. He called on Panchayat representatives to advance the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, linking environmental conservation with community engagement.
The workshop has drawn over 900 participants, including elected Panchayat representatives, senior officials, and experts from across the country. Singh praised Bihar’s progress in rural development and urged women representatives to actively lead and end practices where husbands act on behalf of elected wives.
Union Minister of State for Panchayati Raj Prof. S. P. Singh Baghel highlighted the need for grassroots efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and proposed a National Conference of Panchayati Raj Ministers to address related issues. Deputy Chief Ministers of Bihar, Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, discussed the state’s initiatives for ‘Smart Villages’ and advancements in Panchayat infrastructure.
The workshop includes sessions on innovative Panchayat models, best practices, and cultural presentations, aiming to foster learning and collaboration among participants.
