BJP Holds Protest Against Sukhu Government at Naggar in Kullu, Govind Singh Thakur Accuses Congress of Failing Public.
Shimla:
Former minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Govind Singh Thakur participated in a protest organised by the BJP Naggar Mandal against the Congress-led Himachal Pradesh government, raising concerns over what he termed the failure of the Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu government to fulfil its electoral promises.
Addressing the protest, Thakur said the BJP had joined the demonstration to give voice to the concerns of the people of the state. He alleged that despite the Congress government approaching the completion of four years in office, people across Himachal Pradesh continue to feel “cheated” and disappointed with the government.
Thakur claimed that development activities across the state had slowed down and that people belonging to different sections of society were facing difficulties because of the policies and functioning of the state government.
He further criticised the Congress government for the promises made before the 2022 Assembly elections, alleging that the party had made several major commitments to the people while seeking votes. According to Thakur, the government has now been reluctant to provide a satisfactory account of the progress made on those promises.
“Congress had made big promises to the people before coming to power, but when the public asks for an account of those promises, the government is avoiding giving answers,” Thakur said.
The BJP leader maintained that the protest was aimed at highlighting issues affecting ordinary citizens and holding the state government accountable for its performance. He said the BJP would continue to raise issues concerning the people and would intensify its efforts to make the government answerable to the public.
The protest by the Naggar BJP Mandal comes amid continued political confrontation between the ruling Congress and the opposition BJP in Himachal Pradesh, with the BJP repeatedly targeting the Sukhu government over governance, development and the implementation of its pre-election commitments.
