Rahul Gandhi Criticizes Modi Government’s Economic Policies at Jammu Rally.
Jammu:
Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, launched a fierce critique of the central government during an election rally on Wednesday, accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration of using Goods and Services Tax (GST) and demonetization to benefit business tycoons such as Adani and Ambani.
Speaking in support of Congress-National Conference (NC) alliance candidates for the upcoming assembly elections in Jammu, Gandhi asserted that these policies were strategically employed as “weapons” to clear the path for wealthy industrialists while neglecting the needs of the common people. He questioned the effectiveness of the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, suggesting it primarily serves the interests of a few corporate magnates rather than fostering widespread economic growth.
In his address, Gandhi also criticized the BJP for its alleged misuse of central agencies, including the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and Income Tax (IT) department, claiming that these institutions have been weaponized to intimidate political opponents and stifle dissent.
Gandhi’s comments come as the Jammu district, along with six others, prepares to vote in the third and final phase of the Jammu and Kashmir elections on October 1. He emphasized the importance of the elections as a means for citizens to reclaim their rights and voice against what he described as the oppressive tactics of the ruling party.
As the campaign heats up, Gandhi’s remarks highlight the contrasting narratives between the Congress-NC alliance and the BJP, with both sides vying for voter support in a region that has witnessed significant political shifts in recent years. The outcome of these elections could have lasting implications for the political landscape in Jammu and Kashmir.
