Government to Review Proposals for Street Vendor Policy, Including Nameplate Requirements.

Shimla:

The Himachal Pradesh government is set to deliberate on various suggestions regarding the street vendor policy, with a focus on the potential requirement for vendors to display nameplates and other forms of identification at their stalls. A government spokesperson confirmed that no decision has been made on this matter yet.

To address the concerns of street vendors, a committee comprising members from both the Congress and BJP has been formed. Chaired by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan, the committee includes key figures such as Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh and Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh, along with several MLAs.

The committee will review input from various stakeholders and is tasked with compiling recommendations for the state government. Following the submission of these recommendations, the Cabinet will assess them thoroughly before arriving at a final decision regarding the street vendor policy. The government is committed to addressing the needs of street vendors and ensuring their voices are heard in the policymaking process.
