Himachal CM Promises Continued Support for Industrial Growth Amid Cheaper Power Supply.
Shimla:
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced today that Himachal Pradesh remains dedicated to creating industry-friendly policies to attract investment. In a recent statement, he highlighted that the state’s electricity supply to industries continues to be more affordable than in neighboring states such as Punjab, Haryana, and Uttarakhand.
Sukhu noted that large industries with supply voltages between 33 KV and 220 KV will benefit from electricity rates over one rupee cheaper per unit compared to their counterparts in nearby states. Currently, only 159 large industries in this category operate in Himachal.
Additionally, he mentioned that there are 2,011 industries with supply voltages of 11 KV and 22 KV that also enjoy similar price advantages. To further support these businesses, the government has reduced electricity duty from 16.5 percent to 10 percent.
The CM reaffirmed the state’s commitment to fostering small and medium enterprises, which number 31,298, emphasizing that subsidies for these industries remain unchanged and energy charges have not been affected.
Sukhu assured that the rationalization of electricity subsidies would not harm industrial interests and reiterated the government’s determination to support job creation and industrial growth in Himachal Pradesh. “These industries are crucial for providing employment to thousands of our youth, and we appreciate their contributions,” he stated.
