Teachers play crucial role for Societal Change, Says Minister Dharmani at Vijay Memorial College Ceremony in Mandi.

In a powerful address during the 19th foundation day ceremony “Navrang” at Vijay Memorial College of Education, Rajesh Dharmani, Minister for Urban and Rural Planning, Housing, Technical Education, and Vocational Training, underscored the critical role of teachers in transforming society. He cautioned against pursuing teaching solely for job security, emphasizing that educators are fundamental in shaping children’s futures.

Dharmani encouraged youth to seek self-employment and highlighted the state government’s commitment to providing training that meets market demands. He announced the introduction of modern courses in technical colleges, including Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Drone Technology, stressing the need to develop skilled workers as these fields evolve.

The minister noted that Himachal Pradesh currently ranks 21st in quality education and called for collective efforts to improve educational standards, acknowledging the pivotal role of trained teachers in this mission. He also referenced former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh’s efforts to elevate the status of teachers and the visionary contributions of late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in advancing technology education.

During the event, Dharmani honored outstanding students, inaugurated a new computer lab, and released a book on the history of the Mandi princely state. Cultural performances by students enlivened the occasion, attended by various dignitaries, including APMC President Sanjeev Guleria.

Following this, Dharmani presided over the closing ceremony of the “Safe Himachal” road safety awareness rally organized by the Transport Department in collaboration with the Rajyog Education and Research Foundation and Prajapita Brahma Kumari Ishwariya University. The rally, which ran from September 20 to 28, aimed to promote road safety awareness across the region.

Emphasizing the gravity of road safety, Dharmani noted that minor negligence can lead to tragic accidents. He pointed to key factors behind road incidents, such as intoxication, carelessness, and mobile phone use while driving, urging drivers to adhere to traffic rules. He commended the efforts of the Brahma Kumari institution in addressing the spiritual aspects of road safety and encouraged local authorities to partner with such organizations for ongoing awareness campaigns.

The event also featured remarks from Divya Prabha of the Rajyog Education and Research Foundation, who discussed various facets of the safety campaign.
