Union Health Minister JP Nadda Inaugurates Renal Transplant Services at AIIMS Bilaspur in Himachal Promises Enhanced Healthcare Infrastructure.

Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda visited the state-of-the-art Renal Transplant ICU and Facility at AIIMS Bilaspur in Himachal Pradesh today, marking a significant milestone for the institute. During his visit, he interacted with the first renal transplant recipient, emphasizing the importance of the newly launched transplant services in addressing the long-standing need for such facilities in Himachal Pradesh.
Nadda expressed his satisfaction with the operationalization of the renal transplant services, stating that the initiative will greatly assist needy patients and is supported by an initial grant of Rs. 2 crore. He noted that these services are also accessible under the PMJAY and HimCare health insurance schemes, aiming to support 50-100 patients annually while promoting awareness about organ donation.
In addition to the renal transplant services, Nadda highlighted AIIMS Bilaspur’s comprehensive healthcare offerings, including a Cardiac Cath Lab, Radiotherapy services, and the establishment of 38 departments that enhance the institute’s ability to provide specialized medical care. He announced the upcoming construction of a 250-bedded Vishram Sadan (Night Shelter) and approved various infrastructure projects worth Rs. 178 crore.
The Health Minister also announced the creation of a Regional Viral Research and Diagnostic Laboratory at AIIMS Bilaspur, along with 29 new Assistant Professorships and 98 non-faculty positions, aimed at improving healthcare delivery and patient care services.
Nadda praised the rapid growth of AIIMS Bilaspur since its inception, noting that over 5,00,000 outpatients and 35,000 inpatients have received care at the facility. He reiterated the government’s commitment to fortifying healthcare infrastructure in the region and ensuring high-quality medical services for the people of Himachal Pradesh and neighboring areas.
