Mandi’s Jagriti Kalamanch Stages Captivating Performance of “Ashwathama” in Mumbai.

In a remarkable showcase, Jagriti Kalamanch from Mandi presented the play “Ashwathama,” inspired by Dharamvir Bharati’s “Andhayug,” at Mumbai’s Veda Kunba Auditorium. Directed by renowned local artist Gagan Pradeep, this powerful production offers a unique perspective on the Mahabharata through the eyes of its significant character, Ashwathama.
Gagan Pradeep shared that the play, set on the final day of the eighteen-day war, employs an impressive light and sound design to enhance the storytelling. The performance highlights Ashwathama’s desire to become a commander and his cunning victory in the battle between Duryodhana and Bhima.
The talented cast, comprising graduates from Mandi School and DAV College, received accolades from Mumbai’s esteemed artists, prompting calls for additional performances. Pradeep emphasized the dedication and hard work of the actors, who prepared rigorously over twenty days, reflecting their commitment to the art.
