Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla Inaugurates International Kullu Dussehra Festival.

Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla inaugurated the week-long International Kullu Dussehra Festival today at Rath Maidan, Kullu. Participating in the Rath Yatra of Lord Raghunath, the Governor, along with Lady Governor Janaki Shukla, offered prayers to the deity, addressing thousands of devotees and extending Dussehra wishes to the people of Himachal Pradesh.
During his address, the Governor expressed pride in the presence of Lord Raghunath in Kullu, emphasizing the cultural significance of the festival as a symbol of the victory of good over evil. He highlighted the festival’s importance not only for its religious connotations but also for its potential to boost tourism in the region, urging efforts to raise awareness against substance abuse during the celebrations.
The Governor also inaugurated exhibitions set up by various government departments, boards, corporations, and non-governmental organizations, commending the initiatives displayed. He noted that while Dussehra is celebrated for just one day in other parts of India, Kullu’s celebration extends for a week, showcasing the region’s rich traditions and community spirit.
Governor Shukla reaffirmed the festival’s role in connecting people with their roots, and stressed the importance of environmental preservation in the scenic state of Himachal Pradesh. He called for collective action to eradicate substance abuse, advocating for a healthier community.
Over 300 deities from various regions of Kullu participated in the festival, which continues to be a vibrant celebration of cultural heritage and unity. Upon his arrival at Bhuntar Airport, the Governor received a warm welcome, joined by local dignitaries, including Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sundar Singh Thakur, and District officials.
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri also attended the event.
