Election Schedule Announced for Maharashtra and Jharkhand Assembly Elections.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar has officially announced the election schedule for the Maharashtra and Jharkhand Assembly elections. Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Kumar revealed that the Maharashtra Assembly elections will be held in a single phase on November 20, 2024. Meanwhile, the Jharkhand Assembly elections will take place in two phases on November 13 and November 20.

The current term of the Maharashtra Assembly concludes on November 26, while the Jharkhand Assembly’s term will end on January 5, 2025.

In addition, Kumar noted that by-elections for 48 Assembly seats and three Lok Sabha seats—including the Wayanad seat in Kerala vacated by Rahul Gandhi—are scheduled for November 13. The counting of votes for all elections will take place on November 23.
