Day 2 of 19th International Conference of Drug Regulatory Authorities Concludes in New Delhi.

The second day of the 19th International Conference of Drug Regulatory Authorities (ICDRA) workshop wrapped up today at the Yashobhoomi Convention Centre in Dwarka. The event, which runs from October 14 to 18, is being hosted for the first time in India by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO).
Inaugurated by Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare Jagat Prakash Nadda, the conference brings together regulatory authorities, policymakers, and health officials from WHO member states to discuss vital issues in drug regulation.
Day two featured a series of technical presentations and moderated panel discussions focusing on the global regulatory frameworks and quality concerns related to medical products. Participants from countries including Singapore, South Africa, Brazil, and the USA presented on various topics such as access to medical products, regulation of advanced therapy medicinal products, and methods to reduce reliance on animal studies.
Key objectives included discussing pathways for improving access to medical products and establishing robust regulatory frameworks, particularly for advanced therapies. Presentations also highlighted the operationalization of the African Medicines Agency and explored WHO prequalification processes for medical devices and pharmaceuticals.
The day concluded with interactive Q&A sessions and the finalization of recommendations aimed at enhancing global drug regulatory practices.
