Vallabhian Botany Club Celebrates World Food Day in at Vallabh college Mandi.

The Vallabhian Botany Club at Vallabh Government College, Mandi, organized a grand event to mark World Food Day today. The event commenced with the warm welcome of the chief guest, Padma Shri Neck Ram Sharma, and the distinguished guest, L.D. Thakur from the Food Department of the Zonal Hospital, by the college principal, Surina Sharma.

Chief guest Neck Ram Sharma shared insights on the significance of natural and traditional food, encouraging students to adopt healthy eating habits. L.D. Thakur highlighted the benefits of nutritious foods and promoted a healthy lifestyle.

A key attraction of the event was an exhibition showcasing nursery plants prepared by first and second-year B.Sc. students, available for sale. The exhibition featured wild edibles, educational materials on nutrient-rich foods, posters, and traditional dishes prepared by the students. Delicious dishes made by students and handicrafts from pine needle products by women’s self-help groups were also on display.

Second-year B.Sc. students Sonakshi and Suhani presented on the theme of “Food Day,” receiving much appreciation from the audience. Dr. Tara Devi Sen delivered a speech on the importance of food. The event was coordinated by Dr. Deepali Ashok, Assistant Professor of the Botany Department.

Students actively participated, with poster-making and declamation competitions showcasing their artistic and oratory skills. Abhilasha, Kalpana, and Sudha won prizes in the reading competition, while Ujjwal Sharma, Sonakshi, and Manasvi received awards for poster creation.

Final-year scholarship students significantly contributed to the success of this event, which reflected their dedication and hard work in preparation. The program saw substantial participation from professors and students of Sardar Patel University and the college, making it a grand success. Anil from the PTA was also present on this occasion.
