Lahaul Sports Carnival Kicks Off with Football Match at Billing village in Lahaul and Spiti.

Shimla:
The Lahaul Sports Carnival commenced with the “Lady of Kelong Football Cup,” featuring a match between Lahaul Football Club and Spiti Football Club. The opening ceremony was graced by national adventure award winner Tenzin Norgay and former IG Prem Singh of ITBP as Chief Guest. Prem Singh praised the event, highlighting that organizing such an event at Billing, situated 10,000 feet above sea level, was historic in itself.
District Council Member Kunga Bodh, Kelong Panchayat President Sonam Jangpo, and their team were congratulated for their efforts in raising awareness about sports among the youth. The villagers of Billing also set a remarkable example by transforming their fields into sports grounds.
The carnival features various sports like archery, volleyball, kabaddi, and cycling. Organizers Kunga Bodh and Sonam Jangpo emphasized the importance of keeping the youth away from drugs and promoting fitness as a societal priority. Despite the challenges of hosting such events in November, they are determined to continue writing a new chapter in the region’s sports history.
Plans to organize similar events in the future were announced, aiming to further promote sports awareness among the youth of the region.
