A grand event to mark the completion of two years of the state government will be held on December 11, 2024, at the Kahlur Sports Complex in Bilaspur, with an expected attendance of over 25,000 people. This announcement came after a meeting between Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and four senior leaders from Bilaspur, including Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani, former Minister Ram Lal Thakur, former MLA Bumber Thakur, and Congress leader Vivek Kumar, at the CM’s official residence in Shimla today.

During the meeting, the leaders discussed various developmental initiatives for Bilaspur district and raised several key issues. Chief Minister Sukhu assured that the event would be historic, and directed authorities to begin preparations immediately to ensure its success.

One of the key demands raised by the leaders was the construction of the Beri-Dadola Bridge, which would benefit residents across three constituencies: Bilaspur Sadar, Jhanduta, and Ghumarwin. The Chief Minister assured that the bridge project would be prioritized, with a survey to be conducted before making financial arrangements for its construction.

The leaders also called for the granting of Nagar Panchayat status to both Swarghat (under the Shri Naina Devi Ji constituency) and Jhanduta (under the Jhanduta constituency). The Chief Minister responded positively, indicating that these demands would be seriously considered.

Additionally, the Congress leaders expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister for introducing an M.Tech course in Electrical Engineering (Electric Vehicle Technology) at the Government Hydro Engineering College in Bandla, Bilaspur. They also lauded the government’s efforts in promoting water sports activities at Gobind Sagar Lake, which have created new employment and self-employment opportunities for locals, contributing to the region’s economic growth.

The leaders assured the Chief Minister of their full support in making the event a resounding success and reiterated their commitment to ensuring continued development in Bilaspur district.
