Shimla:

Fresh snowfall in different parts of state have affected normal life adversely, which snapped power supply, road connectivity and water supply.

As many as 657 roads have been blocked in the state, while 1749 electricity transformers were disrupted and 78 water supply schemes got affected. Due to that transportation services have become at a standstill in different parts of the state, while a huge part of state is reeling under darkness.

Normal life was adversely affected in Shimla, Chamba, Kinnaur, Kullu and Lahaul and Spiti districts of state.

According to the Data retrieved from the State Disaster Management Authority, 149 roads were blocked in Shimla, 292 roads in Lahaul and Spiti, 100 roads in Chamba, 76 roads in Kinnaur, 34 roads in Kullu, 5 in Mandi and 1 in Kangra district. Similarly, 471 electricity transformers were disrupted in Sirmour, 117 in Shimla, 162 in Mandi, 314 in Lahaul and Spiti, 36 in Kullu, 358 in Kinnaur,  33 in Kangra and 258 in  district. Apart from this, 69 water supply schemes were disrupted in Shimla district, 3 in Spiti division of Lahaul and Spiti and 6 in Kalpa of Kinnaur district.

Multiple snow avalanches were triggered in Lahaul valley of tribal district Lahaul and Spiti today, which blocked the flow of Chenab river between Jasrath and Jobrang villages in this district. An alert has been sounded by the district administration of Lahaul and Spiti for the residents living in downstream in the region.

An avalanche hit a shop at Tandi bridge on Manali-Leh highway in the district. Traffic is at standstill in entire Lahaul and Spiti district for the last two days. Due to damage to power structure, entire Lahaul and Spiti is reeling under darkness since yesterday.

Movement of tourist vehicles was restricted beyond Nehru kund toward Lahaul from Manali today.
