Shimla:

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has issued a firm directive to all administrative secretaries to expedite the completion of pending development projects, ensuring that the benefits of these initiatives reach the people at the earliest. This came during a high-level meeting held today with all administrative secretaries, where the CM emphasized setting clear targets and timely implementation of government schemes.

Addressing the gathering, CM Sukhu reiterated the state government’s commitment from day one to good governance and the welfare of Himachal Pradesh’s citizens. He announced that the Chief Secretary would regularly monitor the progress of various departmental projects to maintain accountability and momentum.

Highlighting the government’s development priorities, the Chief Minister urged secretaries to work with dedication to make Himachal Pradesh a self-reliant state. He stressed expediting the expansion of Kangra airport and accelerating ongoing tourism projects to boost the sector’s growth.

The CM outlined key focus areas, including health, education, rural economy, tourism, energy, food processing, and data storage. He underscored major reforms underway in the health sector to ensure quality medical treatment is accessible close to residents’ homes. The government is also upgrading all seven medical colleges with state-of-the-art equipment, aiming to bring facilities on par with AIIMS Delhi.

Promoting green initiatives, Sukhu advocated for the widespread adoption of electric vehicles and the development of necessary charging infrastructure across the state. He also called for the acceleration of Forest Rights Act (FRA) and Forest Conservation Act (FCA) case approvals, alongside pushing departments toward greater digitalization to improve efficiency.

Noting that nearly 90% of the state’s population resides in rural areas, the CM emphasized strengthening the rural economy through various measures. He praised the government’s historic hike in milk procurement prices and the establishment of minimum support prices for naturally grown wheat, maize, barley, and turmeric, benefiting local farmers directly. Sukhu urged the agriculture department to promote natural farming, describing it as a potential major income source for farmers.

Addressing recent challenges, the CM acknowledged the heavy losses caused by this year’s monsoon rains, similar to the previous year. He assured that the government is working tirelessly with limited resources to provide relief to every affected family. He also directed the revenue department to prepare a detailed report on disaster losses swiftly for submission to the Central Government to secure necessary assistance.

Chief Secretary Sanjay Gupta, Additional Chief Secretaries K.K. Pant and Onkar Chand Sharma, Principal Secretary Devesh Kumar, Secretary to the Chief Minister Rakesh Kanwar, and other administrative secretaries attended the meeting.

The meeting reinforced the state government’s unwavering resolve to fast-track development and welfare projects, underscoring a people-first approach in all governance efforts.
