Demand for Permanent Teacher Recruitment Amid Growing Concerns Over Quality of Education.

Shimla:

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged a strong protest near the District Commissioner’s office in Mandi against the state’s Guest Teacher Policy, which they argue undermines the quality of education and infringes upon the rights of qualified candidates. The protestors claimed that the policy, which hires teachers on a daily wage basis, will disrupt the recruitment process for permanent teachers and adversely affect the education system.

ABVP leader Vishal Thakur expressed concern, stating that the policy not only harms the future of teachers but also negatively impacts students’ education standards. He urged the government to immediately cancel the Guest Teacher Policy and initiate the recruitment of permanent teachers. Thakur also recalled that government ministers had promised permanent jobs for the youth of the state when they came to power, and demanded the fulfillment of this promise.

Chirag Thakur, another protest leader, criticized the policy for being a temporary solution to teacher shortages, which he said would harm thousands of unemployed youths. He warned that hiring guest teachers on low pay and in unstable job conditions could undermine the quality of education, putting students’ futures at risk. He called for urgent changes to the policy, warning of a larger protest if their demands were not addressed.

Akshay Thakur also joined the protest, emphasizing the need to start the recruitment process for permanent teachers immediately. He demanded transparency in the recruitment process, ensuring that teachers are hired based on merit and fairness. He called for amendments to the Guest Teacher Policy to make it more beneficial for both students and teachers.

The ABVP’s protest marks a growing dissatisfaction with the current educational policies in the state and highlights the urgent need for reforms in teacher recruitment to ensure a stable and high-quality education system.
