On the first death anniversary of Dr. Chiranjeet Parmar, his family paid a special tribute by donating useful equipment to the children of Sakaar Society. The donated items included a wax melting machine, geyser, and physiotherapy equipment. Sakaar Society, dedicated to the welfare of mentally challenged children since 2008, provides free transport, special education, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and vocational training. The organization runs day-care centers in Dodhwan and Kangoo under Sakaar Society Mandi, where children are taught by special educators.

On this occasion, Dr. Parmar’s wife, Pushpa Parmar, and daughter, Deepti Parmar Chaddha, shared that Dr. Parmar found great joy in helping the helpless and needy. The family intends to continue his legacy of service. A small celebratory meal was also organized at Sakaar School, which was greatly enjoyed by the children.

Dr. Chiranjeet Parmar was renowned during his lifetime as “Karnataka’s Apple Man” and one of the foremost experts on Himalayan wild fruits. He not only studied the rare wild fruits, nuts, and edible plants of the Himalayan region but also played an unprecedented role in their conservation and commercial cultivation.

Through his research and writings, Dr. Parmar highlighted the global importance of these wild fruits. His website, Fruitpedia, is a treasure trove of information on fruits worldwide.

On his first death anniversary, this contribution not only honors his memory but also reflects his deep commitment to serving society. The donations to Sakaar Society will certainly aid in improving the lives of children. Members of Rise-Up Mandi, including Surender Mohan, Krishna Gupta, and Tara Sen, who shared a close bond with Dr. Parmar, were also present at the event.
