Prime Minister Narendra Modi Attends ‘Hala Modi’ Event and Arabian Gulf Cup Opening in Kuwait.

On the invitation of His Highness Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Amir of Kuwait, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the opening ceremony of the 26th Arabian Gulf Cup as the ‘Guest of Honour’. The event, which marks one of the most prestigious football tournaments in the region, was held in Kuwait with participation from eight nations, including GCC members, Iraq, and Yemen.
The Prime Minister was joined by His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Crown Prince, and His Highness the Prime Minister of Kuwait, and the gathering was an occasion for informal interactions between the Prime Minister and Kuwait’s leadership. Prime Minister Modi extended his best wishes to all participating countries.
In a special address to the Indian community at the ‘Hala Modi’ event in Kuwait, Prime Minister Modi expressed his deep admiration for the contribution of Indian expatriates to Kuwait’s development. He highlighted the diverse backgrounds of the Indian community, emphasizing the spirit of unity and shared pride in India. Modi also praised the efforts of Indian professionals, including workers in construction, doctors, nurses, teachers, engineers, and architects, who play a vital role in shaping Kuwait’s future.
The Prime Minister also spoke of the long-standing historical ties between India and Kuwait, reflecting on the rich trade and cultural exchanges, especially in the 19th century. He acknowledged the role of the Indian community in enriching Kuwait’s society and economy, noting that India’s remittance contributions globally, particularly from Kuwait, are highly valued.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Modi stressed the deep bond between the two nations, built on mutual respect and cooperation. He recalled Kuwait’s support to India during the COVID-19 pandemic and commended the swift action taken by the Kuwaiti government during the recent tragedy in the Mangaf fire.
On India’s future, Modi highlighted the nation’s efforts to become a global hub for innovation, green energy, and technology, aligning with Kuwait’s vision of a dynamic economy. He emphasized the importance of strengthening India-Kuwait relations to support both nations’ aspirations for prosperity.
Modi concluded by inviting the Indian diaspora to participate in upcoming national celebrations, including the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas and the Magh Mela in India. He also urged them to bring their Kuwaiti friends to India to experience the country’s rich culture and hospitality.
The event was a celebration of the enduring India-Kuwait relationship, further strengthened by the shared commitment to development and cooperation.
