In a moment of immense pride for Himachal Pradesh, Sharwan Manta, Managing Director of Himachal Pradesh State Cooperative Bank, has been included in the prestigious list of the 50 Cooperative CEOs (CM50) by the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA). This recognition highlights his outstanding contribution to the cooperative sector and his leadership role in advancing cooperative principles globally.

Sharwan Manta, an officer of the Himachal Administrative Services (HAS), has been selected to join the CM50 team, which will play a pivotal role in the implementation of the United Nations International Year of Cooperatives (IYC) 2025. This initiative is part of a broader global effort that aligns with the United Nations’ Second World Summit for Social Development (WSSD2) to be held in Doha, Qatar, from November 4-6, 2025. The summit will bring together global leaders to reaffirm their commitment to social development and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The IYC2025 aims to culminate with a Cooperative Declaration for World Leaders, underscoring the critical role of cooperatives in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The CM50 initiative seeks to unite the CEOs of leading cooperatives and mutuals worldwide, creating a unified voice to advocate for the cooperative model and strengthen its impact on global development.

Manta’s inclusion in the CM50 group is a recognition of his efforts in promoting the cooperative model, and it also positions Himachal Pradesh at the forefront of global cooperative movements. His involvement will be instrumental in shaping the IYC2025 activities and enhancing the cooperative sector’s contributions to sustainable development worldwide.
