Himachal Pradesh Cabinet Approves Key Administrative and Developmental Decisions.

In a significant meeting held today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the Himachal Pradesh Cabinet made several important decisions aimed at boosting governance, infrastructure, and welfare in the state.

The Cabinet has recommended to the Governor the convening of the budget session of the Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha from March 10th, 2025, to March 28th, 2025.

Welfare of Female Government Employees: In a major move to support female government employees, the Cabinet approved a 60-day special maternity leave in cases of stillbirth or the death of a child shortly after birth. This decision seeks to offer much-needed support to grieving mothers during a difficult time.

Recruitment and Employment Updates: The Cabinet also approved the declaration of pending results for 699 posts across six post codes, excluding those with any allegations of corruption. These posts span various departments including Market Supervisor, Fireman, Drawing Master, Clerks, Lineman, and Steno-Typist.

Policing and Public Safety: The Cabinet has decided to upgrade the Police Chowki in Sanjauli to a full-fledged Police Station, alongside the creation of 20 new posts in various categories. Additionally, a new Fire Post will be set up at Nerwa in Shimla district, with 17 posts to be filled.

A total of nine posts of Tehsildar will be created in the Revenue department, while six posts will be filled for the newly opened Police Post Baghi under the Kotkhai Police Station in Shimla district.

Health and Education Developments: In healthcare, the Cabinet has approved the opening of a new Primary Health Centre in Basheel, Solan district, along with the creation of three new posts.

On the educational front, the Cabinet approved the introduction of a B.Tech in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science and B.Tech in Computer Science courses at the Rajiv Gandhi Government Engineering College, Kangra. Additionally, new courses in Civil Engineering and a diploma in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning will be offered at local institutions in Shimla and Mandi districts, respectively.

Furthermore, the Cabinet gave its nod to the creation of a Nuclear Medicine Department at the Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Medical College, Nerchowk, Mandi, and approved the creation of various academic posts to support this new initiative.

Infrastructure and Organizational Changes: The Cabinet has also approved the creation of new infrastructure, including two new Jal Shakti Vibhag Divisions in Kangra and Bilaspur districts. Along with these divisions, several posts will be filled to strengthen the department.

In an effort to streamline police operations, the Cabinet decided to categorize all 135 existing Police Stations into six categories based on specific criteria such as population, area, and crime rates, ensuring optimal staff distribution.

Fiscal Measures and Modernization: The Cabinet approved an auction-cum-tender process for collecting entry tax for the financial year 2025-26, which is expected to yield an additional Rs. 11.56 crore in revenue compared to the previous year. Moreover, it was decided to introduce the FASTag system at all entry toll barriers in phases, starting with select locations in Bilaspur, Solan, Sirmaur, Nurpur, and Una.

Other Administrative Updates: The Cabinet also approved the reorganization of the Namhol Sub Tehsil in Bilaspur by incorporating eight new patwar circles from the Sadar tehsil.

These decisions mark significant steps in the state’s ongoing efforts to enhance governance, public service, infrastructure, and support for its citizens.
