Himachal Pradesh Unveils Visionary Economic Roadmap with ‘Himachal 2045 Colloquium Series.
Shimla:
In a significant step toward shaping the future of Himachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Thursday launched the Himachal 2045 Colloquium Series, a visionary roadmap that aims to drive the state’s economic development while prioritizing sustainability and environmental preservation. The series is a comprehensive initiative spearheaded by the Manmohan Singh Himachal Pradesh Institute of Public Administration (MSHIPA), Shimla, marking a first-of-its-kind effort in the state to balance growth with ecological responsibility.
Speaking at the launch, Chief Minister Sukhu emphasized the importance of this ambitious initiative in positioning Himachal Pradesh as a leader in sustainable development. “This project will ensure that Himachal’s economic growth is aligned with environmental preservation. It is a bold step toward creating a prosperous, self-reliant state while safeguarding its natural resources,” he said. Sukhu also highlighted that the Himachal 2045 initiative would solidify MSHIPA’s role as a premier policy think tank and promote collaboration between government, industry, and civil society in creating a sustainable economic future for the state.
The Himachal 2045 initiative will unfold in three key phases. The first phase will kick off with an online engagement platform, bringing together experts from various sectors to share their insights. These contributions will be instrumental in shaping the Himachal 2045 Sustainable Economic Vision Document, which will lay the foundation for future policy decisions.
The second phase will feature a colloquium at MSHIPA, scheduled for March 22–24, 2025. This event will bring together a distinguished group of thought leaders, policymakers, and experts, including renowned figures like Sam Pitroda, Tarun Shridhar, Dr. Ashok Khosla, Dr. Shalini Sarin, Salman Khurshid, and Rajni Baksh. Their contributions will help refine the economic vision and guide the development of targeted strategies. The final phase will culminate in June 2025 with the release of a strategic roadmap that will provide actionable policy recommendations for the state’s future.
As part of the comprehensive effort, more than 400 experts will be invited to participate in subsequent phases, representing seven key categories: administration, academia, industries, tourism, and more. This collaborative effort will ensure that all aspects of the state’s economy are thoughtfully considered and integrated into the overarching vision.
Director of MSHIPA, Rupali Thakur, and Additional Director, Prashant Sirkek, were also present at the event, underscoring the institute’s leadership in driving this transformative initiative.
With Himachal 2045, the state is not only laying down the foundation for its economic future but also creating a model of development that is sustainable, inclusive, and environmentally conscious, ensuring a prosperous legacy for future generations.
