126th Birth Anniversary of Balwant Rai Mehta Celebrated with Special Event in Bhutti Colony Kullu.

A special program was held at the Satya Prem Bhawan, Bhutti Colony in Kullu district, to mark the 126th birth anniversary of Balwant Rai Mehta, the founder-chairman of the All India Panchayat Council, who played a significant role in empowering Panchayati Raj in India.

The event saw the presence of former minister and executive member of the All India Panchayat Council, Satya Prakash Thakur, who addressed the gathering of Panchayat representatives and members of various social organizations.

He emphasized the importance of empowering Panchayats for social and economic development and urged the central and state governments to allocate funds directly to the Panchayats to ensure visible development at the grassroots level.

He also called for greater authority and powers to be given to Panchayats to enhance their functioning.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Prem Lata Thakur, President of the Himachal Pradesh Panchayat Council.

The event included several local leaders, such as Banjar Assembly Panchayat Council President Dola Singh Mahant, Ward Panch Amra Devi, Pavna Thakur, and social workers Tikam Ram, Atma Ram, Ramesh Thakur, Kalawati, Nirmala Devi, Indira Devi, who paid floral tributes to the portrait of Balwant Rai Mehta, honoring him on his birth anniversary.
