A significant step towards advancing India’s green energy sector was taken on Wednesday with the signing of a Memorandum of Commitment (MoC) for the establishment of the country’s first integrated manufacturing facility for Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API), Green Hydrogen, and 2G Ethanol in Solan district, Himachal Pradesh.

The MoC was signed in the presence of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu between the state government and M/s Spray Engineering Devices Limited, Chandigarh. The project, estimated to cost Rs. 1400 crore, will create 1000 employment opportunities for the local youth.

The integrated facility, which will initially require 30 MW of green hydrogen in the first phase, is expected to increase its requirement to 50 MW in the coming years. The Chief Minister highlighted that this facility will play a vital role in the state’s efforts to become a leader in green energy by 2026.

“The state government is committed to transforming Himachal Pradesh into the Green Energy State of the country by March 2026. Several initiatives, including setting up a 1 MW Green Hydrogen plant in collaboration with Oil India Limited at Nalagarh, have already been launched in this direction,” said Chief Minister Sukhu.

He further emphasized the importance of the project and urged the company to complete the project within one year, stressing the need for the state to remain at the forefront of the green energy sector.

The MoC was signed by Dr. Yunus, Director of Industries on behalf of the state government, and Vivek Verma, Managing Director of Spray Engineering Devices Limited. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan, MLA Sanjay Awasthy, Advisor Infrastructure Anil Kapil, Additional Chief Secretary R.D. Nazeem, Secretary to Chief Minister Rakesh Kanwar, Additional Director of Industries Tilak Raj Sharma, and other senior officers.

This project marks a major milestone in Himachal Pradesh’s journey toward sustainable energy and economic growth, showcasing its commitment to advancing green technologies and creating new employment opportunities for the local population.
