Holi Celebrated with Enthusiasm and Tradition in Mandi.

Shimla:

Holi, the vibrant festival of colours, was celebrated with great enthusiasm and traditional fervour in Mandi on Thursday. The festival brought together locals from across the town, as they gathered in large numbers in front of Seri Manch to mark the occasion. Participants joyfully smeared each other with gulal (coloured powder), a key feature of the celebrations, filling the air with vibrant hues and festive cheer.

The event, organized by Dharmender Rana, Monika Thakur, and Deep Kapoor, featured a lively DJ setup that kept the crowd entertained throughout the day. The energetic beats and music attracted a particularly youthful crowd, who were seen dancing and throwing gulal into the air, further enhancing the jubilant atmosphere. The festivities continued well into the afternoon, with the music eventually coming to a close as the event wrapped up.

To ensure the safety and security of the revelers, the Mandi district administration had made significant arrangements. Under the supervision of Mandi Superintendent of Police, Sakshi Verma, a sufficient police presence was deployed across the town to maintain law and order, ensuring that the celebrations proceeded smoothly and peacefully.

A key highlight of the day was the traditional Shobha Yatra, a religious procession that featured the town’s chief deity, Madho Rai. Devotees participated in the procession with reverence, applying gulal on the deity as it made its way through the streets of Mandi. The procession marked the official conclusion of the festival’s religious observances.

In a unique tradition specific to Mandi, Holi is celebrated a day before the official date, a practice that adds an extra layer of charm and distinctiveness to the region’s celebration. As the day came to a close, local authorities, including Deputy Commissioner Apoorv Devgan, extended their warm greetings to the residents of Mandi, congratulating them on the joyous occasion through social media.

This year’s Holi celebrations in Mandi were characterized by vibrant cultural activities, active community participation, and a palpable sense of unity, encapsulating the true spirit of the festival of colours.
