New Delhi:

In a significant move aimed at accelerating rural infrastructure development, Himachal Pradesh’s Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Vikramaditya Singh announced that the state is set to receive approval for Phase IV of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) from the Central Government.

The project is expected to connect nearly 1,500 population-defined villages with all-weather road access, marking a major step forward in improving rural connectivity across the state. Under PMGSY-IV, approximately 900 to 1,200 kilometers of new roads are slated for construction, significantly enhancing transportation and accessibility in remote areas.

Minister Singh held a high-level meeting in New Delhi with the Union Minister of State for Rural Development, Kamlesh Paswan, to discuss this upcoming initiative and various other state-related developmental issues. The meeting underlined the commitment of both the state and central governments to work collaboratively for the betterment of rural infrastructure.

“This initiative will greatly benefit the people of Himachal Pradesh by linking remote villages with better road networks, enabling access to essential services and economic opportunities,” Singh stated following the meeting.

The minister emphasized the government’s vision: “The best interest of the state lies in its holistic development across all regions.”

The proposed infrastructure development under PMGSY-IV aligns with the broader goal of inclusive growth and is expected to contribute substantially to the socio-economic upliftment of rural Himachal Pradesh.
