In light of the escalating cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu chaired a high-level review meeting today and directed all Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Superintendents of Police (SPs) to remain on high alert and act in strict accordance with central and state advisories.

During the meeting held at the State Secretariat, the Chief Minister took a comprehensive feedback from district officials on the prevailing situation across the state. Stressing that there was no immediate cause for panic, he nonetheless underscored the importance of heightened vigilance and preparedness. “There is no need to panic, but you all must remain cautious and watchful at all levels,” he stated.

To ensure continuity of governance and public safety during the upcoming three holidays, the Chief Minister announced that essential government offices — including the Chief Minister’s Office, Office of the Chief Secretary, and various Control Rooms — will remain operational with key staff on duty.

The Chief Minister expressed particular concern for districts bordering other states, such as Pathankot, Chandigarh, and parts of Jammu & Kashmir. He instructed officials in these areas to respond swiftly to emergency signals, such as warning sirens, and take pre-emptive measures to control the situation. “All must adhere to instructions issued by the Union and State Governments to safeguard public life and property,” he emphasized.

CM Sukhu also ordered enhanced security measures around critical infrastructure including religious sites, airports, dams, and bridges. In a move to bolster readiness, he instructed officials to conduct regular mock drills in line with central advisories and promised full support for strengthening the state’s control rooms.

The Chief Minister reiterated Himachal Pradesh’s unwavering support for the Indian Armed Forces and praised their firm response to a reported Pakistani intrusion. “We are proud of our brave hearts and commend the Armed Forces for giving a befitting reply. Their valor ensures the safety and integrity of our nation,” he said.

CM Sukhu also urged citizens not to fall for rumors or fake news and to trust only verified official communication during this sensitive time.

The meeting was attended in-person by Principal Advisor (Media) to CM Naresh Chauhan, Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, DGP Dr. Atul Verma, Additional Chief Secretaries K.K. Pant, Onkar Chand Sharma, R.D. Nazeem, Principal Secretary (Finance) Devesh Kumar, and Secretaries Abhishek Jain and Rakesh Kanwar. All Deputy Commissioners and SPs joined the meeting virtually.

The government reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety of its citizens through coordinated efforts and proactive governance.
