Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Wednesday addressed a group of young administrative officers undergoing foundational training at the Dr. Manmohan Singh Himachal Pradesh Institute of Public Administration (HIPA), urging them to adopt a people-centric approach and maintain the highest standards of transparency, efficiency, and public service in their careers.

The delegation included two Indian Administrative Service (IAS) probationers of the 2024 batch and 19 Himachal Administrative Services (HAS) and allied services probationers of the 2025 batch, who are currently undergoing training from June 2 to July 11, 2025.

Commitment to Public Welfare

Interacting with the officers, CM Sukhu emphasized the crucial role of administrative officers in ensuring the smooth and fair implementation of welfare schemes and delivering effective governance. He encouraged the officers to deeply understand the framework and objectives of government schemes so that their benefits reach the deserving and marginalized sections of society.

“You are the backbone of our administration. Your decisions will directly impact people’s lives. A people-first mindset will define your effectiveness as public servants,” the Chief Minister said.

Focus on Economic Growth through Tourism and Hydropower

Highlighting the economic pillars of Himachal Pradesh, CM Sukhu noted that tourism and hydropower are key sectors for the state’s growth. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to promoting these sectors in a sustainable and inclusive manner.

He shared his recent visit to Shipki La in Kinnaur district, located near the China border, where he inaugurated a border tourism initiative. “So far, more than 2,500 people have visited the site, which underscores the potential of tourism in strengthening local economies,” he added.

Encouraging Future Leaders

Extending his best wishes to the officers for their future responsibilities, CM Sukhu said that ethical leadership, public accountability, and dedication to service must be the cornerstones of their administrative careers.

Also present during the interaction were Director of Tourism Vivek Bhatia and Director of HIPA, Rupali Thakur, who accompanied the officers during the visit.

The event served as a motivational and strategic session for the young officers, reinforcing the government’s vision of progressive and responsive administration aimed at inclusive development and public empowerment.
