Shimla:
The residents of Tingret panchayat in Miyar valley of Lahaul and Spiti tribal district are facing a huge inconvenience due to lack of communication services for a long time. As a result, the people of this remote valley are unable to communicate outside world with their loved ones. The BSNL is the sole service provider for communication services in the valley.
The gram panchayat authorities said that the attitude of BSNL authorities is indifferent, which is paying no heed to restore communication services in this region.
Kumari Anita, Pradhan gram panchayat Tingret said that, when she contacted a BSNL officer to apprise on this issue, he immediately disconnected the phone call. Such indifferent attitude of an responsible officer is not acceptable.
“When center government is propagating Digital India campaign, the situation is quite different for the residents of this valley. This discrimination should be avoided and communication and internet services should be strengthen in this region” she remarked.
Anuradha Rana, chairman Zila Parishad Lahaul and Spiti said that she also contacted the General Manager of BSNL in Mandi district on this issue. The GM has assured her that soon, BSNL services will be restored in this remote valley.
