Grand Conclusion of 10-Day Annual Training Camp – NCC Cadets Exemplify Discipline, Talent, and Enthusiasm.

The 10-day Annual Training Camp (ATC-192), organized by 1 HP Air Squadron NCC, Kullu, concluded with a dignified and grand closing ceremony. The event was presided over by the Commanding Officer and Camp Commandant, Wing Commander Kunal Sharma, who felicitated outstanding cadets with mementos and medals for their excellent performance in various camp activities.

The NCC Air Force Flight of Vallabh Government College, Mandi, delivered remarkable performances, securing first positions in the 400m relay race, volleyball (SW), skit, group song, aero modeling (RC model), and screen display competitions.

Cadet Diksha Kumari of Vallabh Government College’s NCC Air Wing was promoted to the rank of Senior Under Officer in recognition of her exceptional performance at the Republic Day Camp in Delhi and her excellence across various selection criteria. The rank was conferred by Wing Commander Kunal Sharma and Flying Officer Dr. Chaman.

Similarly, Cadet Anshul from Government College Kullu was also promoted to the rank of Senior Under Officer for his commendable performance at the Republic Day Camp, Delhi. The rank was awarded by Wing Commander Kunal Sharma and Flying Officer Nishchal Sharma.

Kullu College’s Air Force Flight demonstrated their superiority by securing first positions in drill, solo dance, volleyball (SD), and 400m relay race (SD).

In the Junior Division and Junior Wing category, the NCC Air Wing unit of Government Senior Secondary School, Jari, secured the overall first position, while Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Badarol, won the drill competition.

Wing Commander Kunal Sharma shared that the camp introduced cadets to a regimented lifestyle, daily routines, weapon training, drill, aero modeling, tent pitching, motivational lectures by subject experts, SSB training, laboratory visits at IIT Mandi, trekking, and cultural activities.

Cultural Evening Steals the Show

The cultural programs, featuring group and solo dances, group songs, skits, traditional Nati, band, and orchestra performances by the cadets, captivated the audience.

Performances like “Himalayan Roots” and “Himalayan Chants,” featuring stand-up comedy by Vishal Sharma and folk singing by Lok Verma, mesmerized the spectators.

On the second day of the cultural evening, held at IIT Mandi’s auditorium, the “Sahar Band” thrilled the audience with its lively musical performance. Cadets and officers danced enthusiastically to songs performed by renowned singers Rohit and A.C. Bhardwaj.

Captain Kunal Sagar from the Indian Army’s Armoured Corps inspired cadets by sharing his adventurous experiences in the Indian Army. A former NCC cadet himself, he had once represented at the Republic Day Camp in Delhi during his student life.

As part of the camp, an inspiring lecture was delivered by Wing Commander Isha, who had led the All India Ladies Contingent during the 2015 Republic Day Parade. She shared her life experiences with cadets and emphasized the importance of discipline, hard work, and self-confidence, urging them to continuously strive towards achieving their dreams. Wing Commander Kunal Sharma described her lecture as highly motivating and a catalyst for young cadets.

The cadets also received practical training in aero modeling, including demonstrations of RC and control-line aircraft models. Cadets from DAV Lakkar Bazaar, Shimla, and Jari also participated in live firing practice sessions.

As part of ATC-192, a three-day SSB Workshop was conducted by retired Group Captain Naval Saini, a former Vice President of 2 AFSB Mysore. An alumnus of Sainik School Sujanpur Tira and the National Defence Academy, Group Captain Saini trained cadets in SSB interview preparation, personality development, effective communication skills, and leadership qualities.

Wing Commander Kunal Sharma stated that this workshop would be a milestone for cadets aspiring to join the Indian Armed Forces.

Enthusiastic Participation on International Yoga Day

On June 21, 450 Air Wing NCC cadets from across Himachal Pradesh enthusiastically participated in the International Yoga Day celebrations held at the IIT Kamand campus during the morning session.

The Annual Training Camp was marked by the active involvement of Flying Officer Dr. Chaman, Flying Officer Nishchal Sharma, Warrant Officer Rehman, Rakesh Samhotra, Harbans Yadav, Girl Cadet Instructor Pooja Meel, and the dedicated PI Staff, ANOs, and cadets of NCC.

During the valedictory ceremony, Wing Commander Kunal Sharma extended special gratitude to the administration and faculty of the Indian Institute of Technology, Mandi, for their invaluable support in organizing the camp successfully.
