CM Sukhu Visits Disaster-Hit Villages in Nachan, Assures Full Support and Rehabilitation.
Nine Missing in Panglyur; Relief and Search Operations Underway in Wake of Flash Floods and Landslides.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Thursday visited the severely affected villages of Baga, Syanj, and Panglyur in the Nachan Assembly Constituency of Mandi district to take stock of the devastation caused by recent flash floods and landslides.
During his ground visit, the Chief Minister met grieving families, offered prayers for the deceased, and assured that the state government would extend every possible support to help them recover from the tragedy.
Tragedy in Panglyur: Nine Swept Away
The Chief Minister was briefed that nine individuals were swept away in Panglyur due to flash floods. While four bodies have been recovered, search and rescue operations continue to locate the remaining five.
In Baga village, two deaths were reported and large portions of the hillside collapsed, severely damaging homes, cattle sheds, and killing livestock.
CM Sukhu stopped at several points along the route to personally interact with villagers, listen to their concerns, and assess the extent of the damage. Visibly moved by the scenes of destruction, he emphasized the government’s commitment to stand “shoulder to shoulder with every affected family.”
Relief, Compensation, and Shelter Assured
The Chief Minister announced that full compensation would be provided to families for the loss of homes, cattle sheds, and livestock, including cows, sheep, and goats.
He instructed the district administration to make adequate arrangements for temporary shelter and long-term rehabilitation of displaced families.
“The scale of this disaster is immense, but the government is determined to restore normalcy and ensure that no family is left behind,” he said.
Senior Leaders Join CM in Visit
The Chief Minister was accompanied by senior Congress leaders including Vijay Pal Singh, Jagdish Reddy, APMC Chairman Sanjeev Gularia, Jeevan Thakur, Naresh Chauhan, Laj Singh Kaushal, and Pawan Thakur.
Also present were Deputy Commissioner Apoorv Devgan, Superintendent of Police Sakshi Verma, and other district officials.
Community Appeals for Swift Action
Local residents in Baga shared their fear of further landslides and appealed for immediate stabilization measures on vulnerable slopes. The Chief Minister directed authorities to prioritize safety audits and emergency engineering interventions in such high-risk zones.
