CM Sukhu Urges Vigilance as Torrential Rains Lash Himachal Pradesh.
Appeals Public to Stay Indoors, Avoid Riverbanks; Mourns Chamba Tragedy.

In the wake of relentless torrential rains across Himachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Sunday took stock of the situation by personally speaking with Deputy Commissioners from affected districts. He directed the district administrations to remain vigilant and take immediate preventive measures to mitigate the risk of disasters such as landslides, flash floods, and road blockages.
Highlighting the seriousness of the situation, CM Sukhu appealed to the public to remain indoors and avoid going near rivers and nullahs during the monsoon. “People’s safety is our foremost priority. I request everyone to avoid going near water bodies and to strictly follow all advisories issued by the district administration,” he said in an official statement.
The Chief Minister underscored the need for seamless coordination among various departments to ensure swift and effective responses to emergencies. He also stressed on maintaining uninterrupted essential services during the monsoon period so that the general public does not face hardships.
In a tragic development, a newly married couple lost their lives in the Sutaah gram panchayat of Rajnagar in Chamba district when their house collapsed due to a landslide triggered by heavy rains. Expressing deep grief over the incident, CM Sukhu said, “I pray to the Almighty to grant peace to the departed souls and strength to the bereaved family members of the deceased.” He conveyed his heartfelt condolences and assured solidarity with the affected families.
With heavy rains continuing to batter the region, the state government remains on high alert. District authorities have been instructed to keep disaster response teams on standby and disseminate timely weather updates and safety advisories to the public.
Citizens are urged to stay informed and act with caution as the monsoon intensifies.
