Empowering Girls for a Brighter Tomorrow: NTPC Koldam Hosts 4-Week Residential Training Program.

In a remarkable effort to promote holistic development and empowerment among young girls, NTPC Koldam Project Management organized a media interaction session on Tuesday to share details about its ongoing Girl Empowerment Campaign under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of NTPC Limited.

The campaign, a flagship CSR activity of NTPC, is conducted annually across its various stations. This year, NTPC Koldam is hosting a four-week residential training program from July 12 to August 8, 2025, focusing on nurturing confidence and comprehensive development among school-going girls.
A total of 47 girls, carefully selected from schools located in the four districts affected by the Koldam hydroelectric project, are participating in this initiative. These girls are residing at the NTPC Koldam campus and are undergoing training in a range of multifaceted activities including:

- Academic enrichment sessions
- Yoga and physical fitness
- Sports and self-defense training
- Arts, music, and dance
- Computer education
- Communication and interpersonal skills development
During the media interaction, the girls themselves confidently engaged with journalists, responded to questions with clarity, and presented cultural performances including group songs. Their enthusiasm and growth were evident, showcasing the success of the program in fostering self-confidence and expression.
Addressing the media, Umesh Kumar, AGM of Human Resources at NTPC Koldam, emphasized the company’s dual commitment to meeting the country’s energy demands while fulfilling its social responsibilities. He proudly highlighted that NTPC Koldam is the only hydroelectric power station in India with an 800 MW capacity, continuously setting new records in power generation.
