IOC UK Delegation Meets Himachal CM in London, Lauds State’s Vision for Sustainable Growth.
London:
The President of the Indian Overseas Congress (IOC) UK, Kamal Dhaliwal, along with Vice President Gurminder Randhawa and a delegation of IOC UK members, met Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu in London yesterday evening. The high-level courtesy call served as a platform for dialogue on developmental policies, overseas engagement, and environmental challenges.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Sukhu highlighted the transformative initiatives undertaken by the current Himachal Pradesh government in sectors such as healthcare, education, tourism, and environmental conservation. He proudly noted that, owing to strategic and focused reforms, the state has climbed from 21st to 5th rank in quality education across India.
The Chief Minister also drew attention to the growing impact of climate change on the Himalayan state, stressing the government’s proactive measures to address these challenges. “Despite limited resources, our government is committed to providing comprehensive assistance to disaster-affected families, leveraging all possible means,” he said.
Applauding the state’s progressive agenda, IOC UK President Kamal Dhaliwal praised the Himachal Pradesh government’s commitment to sustainable development, stating that such a forward-looking model sets a precedent for other Indian states. “This vision of inclusive growth and climate responsibility is commendable and aligns well with global sustainability goals,” Dhaliwal remarked.
The meeting also saw the presence of MLA Dehra and the Chief Minister’s wife, Kamlesh Thakur, along with General Secretary IOC UK Vikram Duhan, and IOC UK members Sandeep Soni, Mohammed Khaleelullah, Yash Solanki, Rupinder Gill, and Pammi Cheema.
The interaction underscored the significance of engagement between Indian state leadership and overseas Indian communities, especially in shaping narratives around development, investment, and diaspora contributions to India’s progress.
