HGCTA Local Unit Formed at Vallabh Government College, Mandi; Dr. Harish Kumar Elected President.

The Himachal Government College Teachers’ Association (HGCTA) was formally constituted at Vallabh Government College, Mandi in a dignified and cordial atmosphere on Wednesday. The proceedings were presided over by Dr. Ravindra Kumar, Senior Professor, Department of Commerce, while Dr. Pradeep Kumar, Senior Professor, Department of Geography, served as the Assistant Returning Officer.

In the formation of the executive body, Dr. Harish Kumar, Senior Professor of Physics, was unanimously elected as the President of the local unit. Dr. Sanjay Thakur from the Department of Chemistry was entrusted with the responsibility of General Secretary.

The following members were elected to various posts:

Senior Vice President: Prof. Anju Sharma (Department of Mathematics)

Vice President: Prof. Brinda Shandil (Department of English)

Joint Secretaries: Dr. Jyotsna Bansal and Assistant Professor Shikha Kapoor (Department of English), and Dr. Dayak Ram (Department of Hindi)

Treasurer: Dr. Balbir Singh (Department of Commerce)

Media Advisor: Flying Officer Dr. Chaman (Head, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication)

Senior Advisor: Dr. Ravindra Kumar (Department of Commerce)

Advisor: Dr. Rajkumar Thakur (Department of Chemistry)

On this occasion, Dr. Banita Saklani, State President of HGCTA, graced the event as the chief guest. Former State President Dr. Seema Sharma presented the annual report of the Association for the year 2024–25.

Newly appointed President Dr. Harish Kumar expressed his commitment to upholding the quality of higher education and working diligently for the welfare and rights of the teaching community.

Assistant and Associate Professors from the faculties of Arts, Science, and Commerce of Vallabh Government College, Mandi participated actively in the event.
