The Department of Botany at Vallabh Government College, Mandi, ushered in the new academic session with a vibrant and inspiring induction program for the Vallabhian Botany Club on Thursday. The event served as a warm welcome to new students and a platform to outline the club’s vision for the 2025–26 session.

Held in the college campus, the program marked the formal election of the club’s office bearers and provided insights into upcoming initiatives centered around environmental sustainability, biodiversity conservation, and innovative green practices.

New Leadership Takes Charge

The induction ceremony witnessed the announcement of newly elected office bearers for the academic year. Sonakshi was elected as the General Secretary, supported by Associate Secretaries Dharuvi and Jashan. The Secretary (Events) role was taken up by Manasvi, with Kanan, Piyush, Haritika, and Jitendra joining as Associate Secretaries (Events). The wall display and information wing of the club will now be led by Aryan as Secretary (Wall Management), alongside Associate Secretaries (Wall Management) – Suhani, Raghavi, Komal, and Reechana.

Green Vision for the Campus

The club committed itself to a proactive agenda that includes:

  • Transforming the campus into a greener space.
  • Spreading awareness and action for biodiversity conservation.
  • Implementing “waste to best” practices through creativity and innovation.

This eco-conscious vision resonated strongly with both students and faculty, setting a tone of responsibility and purpose for the year ahead.

Motivational Addresses by Faculty

Head of Department, Dr. Tara Devi Sen, delivered an insightful keynote address, underlining the club’s central mission to foster leadership, teamwork, and creative thinking among students. She encouraged members to take initiative in environmental stewardship and to serve as ambassadors of sustainable living within and beyond the campus.

Faculty members Dr. Deepali Ashok, Dr. Neeti Pathania, Dr. Banita Saklani, and Dr. Madhvi Joshi also addressed the gathering, offering their wisdom, encouragement, and support. Their words inspired students to engage in meaningful and innovative projects under the club’s banner.

Support Staff Acknowledged

The presence of Lab Assistants Guddi Devi and Praveen Kumar, along with Gardener Bhiku Devi, was warmly acknowledged during the program. Their continuous behind-the-scenes support plays a crucial role in the success of both departmental and club activities.
